Ducks Rise to Support Undergraduate STEAM Fellowships at CSWS

Fundraising on the 2026 University of Oregon annual day of giving surpassed our $5,000 goal to support Undergraduate STEAM Summer Fellowships, which create opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaborations among science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) faculty and students on campus and enhance pathways for underrepresented students in STEAM to succeed. Through a competitive application process, CSWS selected biochemistry major Claire Jones and dance major Michelle Rogers as our 2026 STEAM Fellows.

2026 Undergraduate STEAM Fellows announced

University of Oregon students Claire Jones and Michelle Rogers have been named 2026 Undergraduate STEAM Summer Fellows by the Center for the Study of Women in Society.

Launched in 2025 with funding from our 50th anniversary Duckfunder campaign, this undergraduate fellowship creates opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaborations among science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) faculty and students on campus and to enhance pathways for underrepresented students in STEAM to succeed.

CSWS reaches Ducks Give fundraising goal

CSWS surpassed our $5,000 fundraising goal during Ducks Give, raising $5,360 from 39 gifts to support undergraduate research on gender. It's not too late to give! See story for details.

Info Session: Graduate Student Grants

On Friday, Nov. 20, Director Sangita Gopal will host a research grants information session for graduate students new to the CSWS grant funding process. In the session, Gopal will explain the grant funding cycle and what kinds of research and creative work related to gender qualify for CSWS funding.

The info session will be held 12–1 p.m. in the CSWS Jane Grant Room (Hendricks 330).

The 49th Annual Utopian Studies Conference will be held in Portland, Oregon on Nov. 12–14, 2026, with the Center for the Study of Women in Society as its local sponsor. Among the more than 50 programming blocks over three days, CSWS will be hosting a "Feminist Futures" roundtable discussion on Friday, Nov. 13.

Inside the 2026 Annual Review

One of my favorite roles at CSWS—besides putting together this publication—is helping University of Oregon students and faculty to share their funded research with our community. Whether I’m organizing and publicizing Noon Talks, conducting video interviews, or editing articles submitted for the Annual Review, I feel privileged to be one of the first to hear about the incredible research, scholarship, and creative work that our Research Fellows are producing.
