Acker-Morgen Memorial Lectureship Series
The Center for the Study of Women in Society's Acker-Morgen Memorial Lectureship honors two powerful feminist voices, CSWS founding director Joan Acker and longtime center director Sandra Morgen, both of whom passed away in 2016. This annual lecture series commemorates their legacies by bringing to the University of Oregon campus renowned feminist scholars who work on issues of economic justice and gender equity – issues that were very near and dear to both Joan and Sandi. June 22, 2016—CSWS received word of the passing of feminist scholar , a leader of the original group that established a center to study women at the University of Oregon. Born in 1924, she joined the UO faculty in 1967 after earning her PhD in sociology at this institution.
