August 20, 2018—, head of the UO’s Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies, has been selected for a half-time position as associate vice provost for academic affairs.
Braun, also an associate professor in the Department of International Studies, will continue her research and teaching half time, according to an announcement from the Office of the Provost.
July 16, 2018—Lynn Stephen and Erin Beck, two members of the CSWS Américas Research Interest Group whose research on gender violence in Guatemala and the U.S. is on a yearly basis of support from CSWS, are among those whose research will receive 2018 Incubating Interdisciplinary Initiatives awards from the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.

From Oregon Quarterly—The first time UO sociologist Eileen Otis walked into a Walmart, she was far from home—Kunming, China, to be exact. She was immediately struck by how greatly the Chinese version of the massive retailer differed from its American counterpart.

April 9, 2018—The Center for the Study of Women in Society at the University of Oregon recently awarded more than $67,000 in graduate student and faculty research grants to support research on women and gender during the 2018-19 academic year. The research being funded includes projects focused in Senegal, Ghana, the Caribbean, and across the country.
