  • October 18th - 3:00PM, Lillis Business Complex, "A Decolonial Reading: The Case of Latin American Antígonas," Moira Fradinger, Associate Professor in Comparative Literature, Yale University.
    • Moira Fradinger is the author of Antígonas: Writing From Latin America (Oxford University Press, 2023), the first book in the English language to approach classical reception through the study of one classical fragment as it circulates throughout Latin America.
  • October 25th - 3:00PM, Straub Hall, "Madakarani as Screen Pleasure: Scandal and Soft-porn Imaginary," Dr. Darshana Sreedhar Mini.
    • In this talk, Dr. Darshana Sreedhar Mini explores soft-porn’s invocation of the figure of madakarani to chart out different spectatorial relations built through her presence as an embodiment of screen pleasures.
  • October 29th - 5:15PM, Knight Law Center, "The Future of Multiracial Democracy," Sara Sadhwani, Assistant Professor of Politics at Pomona College.
    • Sadhwani specializes in Asian American and Latino voting behavior, elections, interest groups and representation.

    • Kristin Yarris, an associate professor of Global Studies and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies, will discuss her edited volume Accompaniment with Im/migrant Communities: Engaged Ethnography.

    • A story of lesbian world-builders, Outliers and Outlaws uncovers the fabulous history of a large and vibrant lesbian community in Eugene, Oregon.

    • CSWS hosts a teach-in on gender and politics in the 2024 election cycle and how the new political landscape is shaping up for important feminist issues. Panelists: Professor Alison Gash, Political Science; Associate Professor Anita Chari, Political Science; Kaito Campos de Novais, Anthropology; Brennan Fitzgerald, Chemistry and Biochemistry.
  • March 4th - 4:00PM, O’Fallon Lecture: Candace Bond-Theriault
    • Candace Bond-Theriault, JD., LL.M. (she/her/hers) is a Black queer feminist lawyer, professor, writer, mother, and social justice advocate working at the intersections of law, policy, reproductive health rights, racial justice, LGBTQIA+ liberation, economic justice, and democracy reform. She is Adjunct Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Howard University, and Associate Director for Movement Building at Dēmos: a think tank for the Racial Justice Movement.
