Ducks Rise to Support Undergraduate STEAM Fellowships at CSWS

Through a competitive application process, CSWS selected biochemistry major Claire Jones and dance major Michelle Rogers as our 2026 STEAM Fellows. Jones and Rogers wrote personal statements that share how their experiences and goals reflect the CSWS mission. Their stories illustrate the importance of continuing these fellowships.

2026 Undergraduate STEAM Fellows announced

University of Oregon students Claire Jones and Michelle Rogers have been named 2026 Undergraduate STEAM Summer Fellows by the Center for the Study of Women in Society.

Launched in 2025 with funding from our 50th anniversary Duckfunder campaign, this undergraduate fellowship creates opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaborations among science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) faculty and students on campus and to enhance pathways for underrepresented students in STEAM to succeed.

Info Session: Graduate Student Grants

On Friday, Nov. 20, Director Sangita Gopal will host a research grants information session for graduate students new to the CSWS grant funding process. In the session, Gopal will explain the grant funding cycle and what kinds of research and creative work related to gender qualify for CSWS funding.

Calderwood Seminars to explore gender across society and genres

CSWS is in our final year of sponsoring undergraduate Calderwood Seminars in Public Writing on gender-related topics across several departments at the University of Oregon. The Center has collaborated on seminars with faculty from the departments of History, Comparative Literature, English, East Asian Languages and Literatures, and Women’s, Sexuality, and Gender Studies.

Applications are now available for 2027–28 CSWS Faculty Research Fellowships, which provide University of Oregon faculty with one course release for a term of reduced or no teaching to pursue work on any aspect of the study of women and/or gender.
