2023-24 Events

Founded in 1973, CSWS celebrated 50 years of enriching the University of Oregon community with a year-long celebration themed “Feminist Futures” that included invited speakers, exhibits, performances, and events. 

FALL 2023 

Sept 6–9, 2023: Hypatia 40th Anniversary Conference. Cosponsor. 
Oct 24, 2023: Author visit and panel discussion: Diana Greene Foster, author of The Tunaway Study: Ten Years, A Thousand Women, and the Consequences of Having—or Being Denied—an Abortion, in conversation with UO experts and students. In partnership with UO Common Reading. 
November 2, 2023: Conversation with literary agent Anjali Singh and graphic journalist Sarah “Shay” Mirk. In partnership with Comics Studies.
November 7, 2023: Documentary film screening with avant-garde feminist filmmakers Su Friedrich and media artist Gelare Khoshgozaran. In partnership with Cinema Studies. 
Nov. 8: Discussion with avant-garde feminist filmmakers Su Friedrich and media artist Gelare Khoshgozaran. In partnership with Cinema Studies. 
Nov. 13: History of Women in Science Science Symposium. Cosponsor. 

WINTER 2024

Jan. 20: "My Body, My Choice?" exhibition opens at Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. On view Jan. 20–Aug. 25, 2024. In partnership with UO Common Reading. 
Jan. 27: “Feminist Futures” exhibition opens at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, featuring work by UO Art Department faculty in dialogue with works from the collection. On view Jan. 27–June 17, 2024.  
Feb. 27: "From Editor to CEO: Tina Brown's Legendary Career." Moderated panel discussion with Tina Brown, acclaimed former editor of The New Yorker magazine. In partnership with the School of Journalism and Communication. 
Mar. 8: "Feminist Futures," an evening of dance, music, and discussion with faculty performers and invited guests on the topic of feminist futures. In partnership with the School of Music and Dance. 

SPRING 2024

May 9: Anita Hill: 2024 Lorwin Lecture on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. In partnership with the Wayne Morse Center.
