Research Grants for Graduate Students: Available to UO graduate students, these grants support research and/or creative work on women and gender from a range of disciplines (up to $3,000). Lower priority for CSWS Graduate Research Grants will be given to those students who have already received one in the previous two years. This will not affect students applying for the Jane Grant Dissertation Fellowship. Deadline: 5 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2023.
Jane Grant Dissertation Fellowship: This prestigious fellowship, honoring Jane Grant—early feminist and wife of CSWS’s benefactor, William Harris—is given annually to an outstanding scholar writing a dissertation on women and gender. Only UO graduate students who have been advanced to candidacy (or will be by the date of the award) are eligible to be considered for this competitive fellowship, which carries a stipend of $18,000, plus additional benefits. CSWS also offers a $3,000 Graduate Writing Completion Fellowship to doctoral students who are in the early stages of dissertation writing. The intent of this competitive fellowship is to provide a summer writing stipend to one or more top finalists for the Jane Grant Dissertation Fellowship. All Jane Grant Dissertation Fellowship applicants will automatically be considered for the writing stipend. Deadline: 5 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2023.
Graduate Student Travel Grants: The Center for the Study of Women in Society invites applications for travel grants that provide partial support of expenses incurred by University of Oregon graduate students giving a virtual or in-person presentation at a conference or a workshop related to women and gender during AY 2022-23 (September 2022 – June 2023). Funding is contingent on the paper/panel acceptance at the conference or workshop. CSWS will prioritize requests from students with partial department support. Travel for research purposes (fieldwork, archives, etc.) is not covered by these grants. Students seeking support for these activities should apply for CSWS Graduate Student Research Grants. Please be sure to read the Travel Grant guidelines before filling out your application. Deadline: 5 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2023.
