University of Oregon faculty, staff, and graduate students are invited to attend an information session about research grants and fellowships available from the Center for the Study of Women in Society.

On Tuesday, Dec. 3, join CSWS Director Michelle McKinley as she discusses the application process for all research grants, including the prestigious Jane Grant Dissertation Fellowship. The info session will be held 4–5:30 p.m. in the Jane Grant Conference Room, 330 Hendricks Hall.

For Academic Year 2019-20, faculty and staff can apply for grants of up to $6,000 and graduate students can apply for grants of up to $3,000 to support research and/or creative work on women and gender. In addition, doctoral candidates can apply for the Jane Grant Dissertation Fellowship. This award, honoring the wife of CSWS’s benefactor William Harris, is given annually to an outstanding scholar writing a dissertation on women and gender. The fellowship carries a stipend of $18,000, plus additional benefits.

This year, CSWS awarded more than $65,000 in grant funding to support research on the intersecting nature of gender identities and inequalities initiated by members of the UO community from a range of disciplines.

The center has offered research funding to faculty and graduate students at the UO for more than 40 years. By providing these highly competitive grants and fellowships, CSWS consistently has supported many important research projects at various stages of development and enriched programs in all sectors of the university.

In addition to research grants, a limited number of graduate student travel grants (up to $300) are being offered for travel expenses to be incurred during AY 2019-20. These grants provide partial support for travel to present papers that relate to women and gender at a conference, or for a workshop related to women and gender.

The deadline for all CSWS research grants is 5 p.m. January 27, 2020. The deadline for graduate student travel grants is Dec. 2, 2019. For research and travel grant applications and guidelines, please visit csws.uoregon.edu/funding.
