University of Oregon undergraduate students have a new way to participate in the research mission of CSWS.

Launching this year with funding from the Center's 50th anniversary Duckfunder campaign, the CSWS Undergraduate STEAM Summer Fellowship is intended to create opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaborations among science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) faculty and students on campus and to enhance pathways for underrepresented students in STEAM to succeed.

The fellowship provides grant funding for STEAM-field undergraduates and faculty mentors to partner on summer projects that support the Center's mission to create, fund, and share research that addresses the complicated nature of gender identities and inequalities. CSWS defines research as broadly encompassing all academic fields of study, including social sciences, humanities, arts, sciences, and disciplines in the professional schools.

The fellowship will fund one student per academic year to conduct a research-based project for a minimum of eight weeks under the supervision of a UO faculty mentor. Final products must support the mission of CSWS and may be in any genre, such as an article, website, comic, podcast, or short film. The award amount is $3,000 for the student and $1,000 for the faculty mentor.

Applications for the 2025 summer fellowship are due by 5 p.m. Monday, March 31. An information session for interested faculty and students will be held in February (TBD).

Information, fellowship guidelines, and the online application form are available now on the CSWS website. Questions can be directed to csws@uoregon.edu
