April 14 talk on Indigenous women and violence

UO Professor Lynn Stephen, anthropology, and Shannon Speed (Chickasaw Nation), professor of gender studies and anthropology and director of the American Indian Studies Center at UCLA, will discuss their new edited book, Indigenous Women and Violence: Feminist Activist Research in Heightened States of Injustice (University of Arizona, 2021) on Wednesday, April 14, at 4 p.m. PT. The book brings together the ethnographic research of eight scholars who have dedicated their careers to illuminating the ways in which Indigenous women have challenged communities, states, legal systems, and social movements to promote gender justice.
The talk is sponsored by Gender and Women's Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, and Political Science at the University of Rhode Island.
