Given the serious nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Center for the Study of Women in Society (CSWS) has cancelled its Spring 2020 lecture series. Events will be rescheduled for AY 2020-21.

“While we have thoroughly enjoyed hosting our speakers for the Lorwin lectures, and our Race, Ethnicities and Inequalities colloquium, we have postponed these and other lectures until the fall,” said CSWS Director Michelle McKinley.

Events to be reschedule include Lorwin Lectureship speakers Christina Sharpe, York University (Toronto), and Alicia Garza, co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement; Race, Ethnicities and Inequalities Colloquium speaker John Collins, Queens College and the CUNY Graduate Center; Queer Studies Lectureship speaker Lawrence La Fountain-Stokes, University of Michigan; and Acker-Morgen Lectureship speaker Raka Ray, University of California, Berkeley.

McKinley also said that, for faculty affiliates who have outstanding co-sponsorships for events that have been postponed, “CSWS will honor those pledges and carry them over to the next fiscal year.”

CSWS office staff are also working remotely at this time to minimize exposure. Staff members request that people use their personal UO emails, and not the CSWS general mailbox, as they cannot monitor those remotely.
