Currents in Women's and Gender Studies

This year, please join us in welcoming Laura Perez, author of Chicana Art (Duke University Press, 2007), to campus on April 18, 2008, in the Jordan Schnitzer Art Museum, 11:00-1:30 (lunch provided to those who register in advance). Contact: monica@uoregon.edu, 346-55529.

Dr. Pérez, is associate professor of Ethnic Studies and, Spanish and Portugese at UC Berkley. Her teaching and research are in contemporary US Latina and Latin American women's writing; Chicana/o literature and visual arts; and contemporary cultural theory. Some of her published or forthcoming publications include:

  • "Reconfiguring Nation and Identity: US Latin and Latin American Women's Oppositional Writings"
  • "Reflections and Confessions on the 'Minority' and Post-Colonial Immigrant ID Tour"
  • "For Love and Theory: An Ofrenda"
  • "El desorden, Nationalism, and Chicana/o Aesthetics"

Margaret Randall - Reading and Booksigning: STONES WITNESS

Highly acclaimed poet, writer and activist, Margaret Randall will read from her recent book Stones Witness which explores connections to place. Her presentation will honor the life and spirit of Benjamin Linder.


 

Indigenous Literatures and Other Arts: A Symposium and Workshop

Friday-Saturday, May 2-3, 2008

This two-day symposium will bring together a diverse group of scholars, artists, and community members to investigate the potential relationships among Indigenous literatures, other arts practices, and arts and media scholarship.
