Reclaiming the Past RIG
This RIG is for scholars and students working in all humanities disciplines with an interest in gender and a focus on the past; thus it has attracted scholars in a wide variety of disciplines and time periods. We have existed since the beginning of RIG initiatives, more than ten years ago, and carried forward a discussion on issues pertaining to gender in previous eras and their echoes in modernity and postmodernity. Through
a variety of activities such as work-in-progress talks, discussion of scholarly
articles, and lectures by visiting speakers, the group seeks to bring to bring
new perspectives to the study of women, gender, sexuality and the body, in the literature,
artistic expression, and material culture of past societies. All interested
faculty, staff and graduate students are welcome.
