Amparo Hoffmann-Pinilla

Amparo Hofmann-Pinilla, (MA Phil, in Sociology, New York University) is the Deputy Director for the Research Center for Leadership in Action. In this capacity, she directs the knowledge management, international, and social change leadership strategic initiatives. At RCLA, her main accomplishments include the successful direction of the Research and Documentation component of Leadership for a Changing World, the production of booklets, papers and other material for academics and practitioners and the design of conferences, training and other initiatives as a way to disseminate methodologies and best practices on leadership and support dialogue and reflection between academics and practitioners. She has also participated in a team that developed an innovative curriculum and training on Leadership development for managers at the NYC Agency of Children Services. Amparo's areas of interest as a researcher, includes collective action; leadership; race, culture and identity. Prior to joining RCLA, Amparo directed several community-based research programs and public service initiatives including a four-year research/intervention program on Latino immigrants in NYC and the HATS program, a successful Comprehensive HIV/AIDS research/intervention at Harlem Hospital (Columbia University). Amparo has taught as an adjunct lecturer in the Sociology Department of New York University, (CUNY) Hostos Community College Social Studies Division and the Columbia University Spanish and Portuguese Department.
